About the Podcast

Each episode, I’ll introduce you to my Bright Lighters, women throughout the ages whose stories, wisdom and life lessons serve as road maps, bridges, and blueprints for our own lives.

With the help of my Bright Lighters, I’ll encourage, inspire, and embolden you to create, live and share your own stories, your way.  In addition to learning, growing, and gaining some “woman wisdom”, I’ll offer up the Aquitaine challenge to keep us inspired and motivated along the journey.

And because I live in and love the state of Colorado with its rich legacy of remarkable women,  I’ll go exploring in my own back yard, highlighting stories, lives and legends of Colorado Women who inspire us to live our best and most Colorful Colorado lives.

Eleanor of Aquitaine
Meet Eleanor

The inspiration behind The Aquitaine Project.

Eleanor’s story is the stuff of legends. As a teen-age girl, she became the wealthiest woman in 12th century Europe. She was the Queen of France, then Queen of England and, mother of one of history’s most famous kings, Richard the Lionheart. During her lifetime she wielded significant social and political power, went on Crusade with her first husband; causing all kinds of trouble, and stirred up a rebellion against her second. Dying at the age of 82, she outlived most of her ten children but her legacy lives on.

For me she is one of the most intriguing women in Medieval history and, I came to know her as a powerful symbol of self-determination and resilience in a world dominated by an un-breakable theocratic patriarchy. She was a smart, savvy, strong woman whose history has been retold many times and in many ways!

The Aquitaine Project was created in the indomitable spirit of this self-determined and provocative woman.  And I can’t wait to share her with you!

Meet Marlo

A long time ago, I asked myself how I could combine my love of women’s history, specifically medieval history, with my desire to help girls and women of all ages embrace who they are, create their own stories and live their best lives.
