When worlds collide you just might find a woman at the center of it all. And if you do, better not stand in her way. There is an old adage that begins with “Hell hath no fury like a woman… In this episode, Hell is a woman, a mother, and a warrior queen determined to avenge her daughters, her people, and her honor.
Boudica, queen of the Iceni, an ancient Celtic tribe of Britannia, was the one woman on earth who drove fear into the hearts of the Romans and nearly defeated and empire. Her story inspires us to embrace our warrior spirit and to defend, protect and if necessary, avenge who and what we hold most dear.
A strong woman, a courageous woman, a valiant woman. Call her what you like but to me Boudica, the Warrior Queen was a woman’s, woman. Fierce protector of her children, fearless leader of her people, A rebel unafraid to take on the most powerful empire in the world to right a grievous wrong and avenge those she loved.
Some of us may find it difficult to assume the role of the avenger and to be honest, I am one of those people. I am also the person who can certainly find it within myself to call upon that power when needed.
What Boudica teaches me is that there are times when anger and rage are absolutely appropriate in certain situations and can be the inner spark I need to fight for who and what I love.
She is the bright lighter I turn to when I need to fire up my own warrior spirit and go to battle with the world.
